    About the Event

    Abstract:

Successful products and businesses often rely on the execution of a strong Go-To-Market (GTM) or marketing strategy. But in today’s hypercompetitive global economy, a corollary truth also exists in many industries that for businesses aspiring to prosper most and have real staying power, there must be more. There’s ample evidence demonstrating that products and businesses with the most enduring or sustainable competitive advantage are ones possessing another key enabler – they are built on a solid foundation of valuable intellectual assets and a thoughtful IP/patent strategy. Of course, given the diversity of differences across industries and competing products, no “one-size-fits-all” approach or formula for establishing successful IP/patent strategies can be applied. But there are basic frameworks and guiding principles that can be followed to chart a path forward. Moreover, they can be refined and tailored over time to suit needs as a venture navigates their way through an ever-changing business and legal landscape. This presentation will share one experienced IP Manager’s personal perspective on the important role patent information and analysis serves in advising a business and formulating effective game plans to compete. It will also provide some practical steps and tools that can be employed for the creation of sensible IP/patent strategies, as well as the effective management of a portfolio of IP/patent assets.
