Title: Migrating to STNext®: Essential Features and Functionalities

Abstract: This e-seminar supports your transition to STNext, and provides an overview of the interface and features. Learn how STNext improves searching while supporting the highly valued functionality of classic STN. In this session, we review STNext settings, file management, alert management (all alerts on your ID from classic STN are available on STNext) and post-search capabilities.

This e-Seminar is appropriate for all STN users who wish to learn about STNext.

    Title: The STNext® Structure Editor

Abstract: This e-Seminar will focus on structure searching on STNext. The STN structure editor will be explained in detail, including how to draw a structure using specific atoms and-or rings, shortcuts, variables, and STN generic nodes. The session will also explain how to draw variable points of attachment for a node, and atom locking (to prevent any substitution at that node) and ring locking (to prevent further ring fusion.) An example structure search will be run in two substance databases (REGISTRY and DCR), and then the corresponding patent families will be found in the patent family databases CAplus and Derwent World Patents Index, illustrating unique hits found in each database. This e-seminar is geared to all levels of searchers.

Title: Multi-Database Structure Searching on STNext®

Abstract: This session will explore the benefits of multi-database structure searching on STNext. We will start with a general introduction of the four structure databases Derwent Chemistry Resource (DCR), Derwent Markush Resource (DWPIM), CAS REGISTRY and MARPAT. The value each database contributes to the patent search will be exemplified. We will demonstrate how to set up database-specific structure queries and show the removal of duplicate answers.
In summary, this webinar will illustrate a patent search workflow to efficiently retrieve complementary results by using Registry, DCR, MARPAT and DWPIM on STNext.
