We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the PIUG 2026 Joint Annual & Biotech Conference to be held May 19 - May 21, 2026 at the Convene Center in Philadelphia, PA. 

Conference Themes

    • Human + Machine = Hybrid Intelligence
    •  Navigating IP Operations in the Age of AI
    •  Biopharma Patents: At the Intersection of Science, Strategy, and Litigation

We are interested in papers from

ALL sectors of the patent information community (chemistry, electrical, mechanical, software, pharmaceutical & biotechnology)

ALL areas of the patent professional community including attorneys, agents, examiners, corporate searchers, independent consultants and tech transfer offices

All topics related to patent information such as those listed below:

    • Patent searching and analysis topics with emphasis on practical applications and use cases
    • New advances in the retrieval, classification, storage, analysis or display of technical, scientific, legal or patent information
    •  The use of computer assisted searching such as text mining, machine learning or artificial intelligence patent searching to collect, summarize and report results
    • Novel aspects of changes in patent law and new information from court decisions
    • International differences in patent filings, information, and considerations when searching global sources

Why should you attend a conference in person?  With everything online these days, what can make you pack your bags and get on a plane? 

 Interact and learn from colleagues in an immersive environment focused on patent information including social time, a mix of traditional talks, insights and time-saving tips from vendor workshops, and interactive panel discussions. 

General Guidelines for Submitting Proposal/Topic/Ideas:

    • Send your paper title, abstract (max. 200 words), speaker names, affiliation, brief biography and full contact information to PIUG26-PIUG26BIO:Proposals
    • Presentations are typically 25 min., followed by 5 min. questions and answers
    • Proposals for panel discussion topics will also be considered
    • Do not include confidential or business-sensitive information in your abstract.
