ABSTRACT:

The Global Dossier Initiative is a set of business services being developed by the five IP (IP5) Offices (USPTO, EPO, JPO, KIPO and SIPO) and is aimed at modernizing the global patent system and delivering benefitss to all stakeholders through a single portal/user interface.  Global Dossier makes it easier for patent applicants to quickly and easily view, monitor and manage IP protection around the world by providing access to the dossiers of related applications filed at the IP5 offices. The Office of Patent Information Management (OPIM) is working on eMod (eCommerce Modernization), a project to improve the electronic patent application process by modernizing its filing and viewing systems. Patent Center is the new tool in development, which features a unified interface, with all of the capabilities from today's tools in a single place, and so much more.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Discuss two new USPTO intiatives, Global Dossier and Patent Center.
  • Identify how Global Dossier can assist stakeholders quickly and easily view, monitor and manage IP protection around the world.
  • Identify how the eMod Project and new Patent Center tool will benefit applicants filing to the USPTO.
  • Determine ways that stakeholders can continue to provide input and feedback into the development of additional Glabal Dosssier services and Patent Center.
