We are very pleased to announce the second annual PIUG 2008 Boston Biotechnology meeting will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 hosted by Genzyme, Cambridge, MA. Due to space considerations this meeting is limited to 100 attendees. The focus of this one-day meeting will be sequence searching, particularly the following areas:
The legal motivations for conducting sequence searching (freedom to operate, patentability, validity)
Sequence database content (update, special coverage, collection policy)
Sequence searching in patent offices
Comprehensive sequence searching (tips and tricks)
Interpreting, presenting and reporting sequence search results
Top ten sequence searching related questions asked (from clients or searchers)
Combining small molecule and sequence searching (e.g. drug candidates with potential protein and gene targets)
Biotech info searching resources (evaluations/tools, fee-based or free)
If these or related subjects fall into your area of expertise then we would like to hear from you! Selected speakers, as well as additional invited speakers, will be chosen.
Please send your:
proposed speaker name

to Qin Meng (qmeng @ amgen.com) on or before January 8, 2008, for full consideration.
If you think you may be interested in speaking but require management approval beforehand, please let us know so we can consider your paper; in the meantime a few descriptive sentences will be sufficient.
The organizers reserve the right to accept abstracts at their discretion in order to assemble the best possible program. Invited speakers may take precedence over other speakers. Please be advised that your abstract submission may be published on the Internet or elsewhere, shortly after receipt or at any time thereafter. Therefore, do not include confidential or business-sensitive information in your abstract.
If you would like to make a recommendation for a speaker on a particular topic or suggest another topic of interest, we would appreciate hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact Qin Meng with your views.
Further news about the program and updates regarding the meeting will be posted on the PIUG Discussion List and on the PIUG web site at www.piug.org.
